Andreas Tobola received his the Diplom (Dipl.-Ing. (FH)) degree in electrical engineering from the University of Applied Sciences, Amberg, Germany, in 2004. Additionally, he received his M.Eng. in software engineering and information technology from the University of Applied Sciences in Nürnberg, Germany. From 2005 to 2016 he led numerous projects as research scientist and embedded software architect at the Fraunhofer IIS in the field of wearable computing and low-power embedded systems. He authored publications in cooperation with the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) in the field of low-power wearable computing. Since 2016 he has joined the technology field IoT within Siemens AG. He is currently Senior Key Expert Engineer for Quality of Sensing at Siemens. In this role he has been driving numerous customer and research projects with embedded sensor systems, in-field signal processing, and data analytics, with a special focus on novel methods for determination and interpretation of sensor signal quality. Besides, he has been giving lectures of biomedical signal processing mainly at the University of Applied Sciences in Nürnberg, since 2013.
